Q&A about the spay/neuter law:
What is the spay/neuter law?
The spay/neuter law went into affect on 1/1/09. It states that animals adopted from a rescue or shelter that are not spayed or neutered prior to adoption MUST be spayed or neutered within 90 days of adoption. CPR is required to take a $50 donation from our adopters until the spay/neuter is completed.
I've had my puppy spayed or neutered. How do I get my deposit back?
You need to MAIL proof of the spay or neuter to the address printed on your contract. This can be a copy spay/neuter certificate or a vet bill. After we receive the proof we will mail you a check for the $50 deposit. Emails and faxes of proof of spay/neuter will not be accepted.
I have an appointment to spay or neuter my puppy later this month. May I have my deposit back now?
No. We must have proof that the spay/neuter is complete.
My vet will not spay or neuter my puppy until she/he is 6 months old. My puppy will only be 5 months old in 90 days.
Your vet can write a letter explaining their office policy on vet stationary. Mail this letter to us at the address printed on your contract. This will put your deposit ON HOLD until your spay/neuter is complete.
I can not afford what my vet charges to spay/neuter.
I plan on donating my $50 to CPR's Spay/Neuter Fund. How do I get a donation receipt?
Please mail your proof of spay/neuter to us. We must have it for our files. Include a note letting us know that you would like to donate. Instead of mailing a check we will mail your receipt.
